SDC Multifibre LyoW (often abbreviated or referred to as “LW” in some contexts) is a specialized testing fabric used in the textile industry to evaluate colorfastness. It is primarily used as an “adjacent fabric” to see how much dye from a test specimen stains different fiber types during washing, dry cleaning, or perspiration tests.
Key details:
Unlike the standard “DW” version, the LyoW version replaces the acetate strip with Regenerated Cellulose (Lyocell). This change was made to better reflect modern apparel trends where Lyocell, Modal, and Viscose are more common than acetate.
The fabric consists of six fibers woven in a ribbon-style construction:
